Welcome to the Home Page!

Hey there everybody, my name's Emily Grace Lamontagne and I am the Author. This blog-ish thing is me finally posting my work for public consumption. I've been writing seriously for about six years, and it's only recently that I've decided to start looking seriously into the whole "making money" end of my work. Lucky for you, though, that I'm still unpublished and you can look at my work for free here at Doing Nothing But Drinking Tea!

You're currently sitting at the home page. To your right, you'll see links that are all nice and organized according to genre. Click the genre you're interested in and take a look at some of the things I've written. I cover a wide variety of topics and genres, so there should be something for everybody here. A lot of the links don't go anywhere right now as I am still in the process of editing and uploading the majority of my short stories, but keep checking here on the homepage because this is where I'll be posting updates and information for y'all.

Peace,

Emily Grace

Donate To The Writer

Previously, I had a Paypal donation button in the sidebar of the blog. I decided that it looked too cluttered when I tried to explain the reason WHY I'm asking for donations, so I removed the explanation. And then it was just a "Give Me Money" button, and I decided I didn't feel right about that, either, so now you've got a page to look at.

Why am I asking for donations?

Here's the thing: I'm not. I've added the Donate paypal button to offer up another way of showing support for the blog. At this moment in time, even though I'm not as well-off as I would like, I'm not starving, I'm able to pay my rent and my bills, and I've even got a little left over each month to put away for savings.

If I'm not asking people for money, why do I even HAVE a Donate To The Blog page?

Eventually, I am going to be working on a hard-copy Happy Notes book. And it is NOT going to be cheap. It will feature original photography done by me, prompts, original quotes, and pieces of wisdom that I've discovered, and a few pieces of original fiction by yours truly.

This may sound simple, but it kind of isn't. I have to focus my energy on what's keeping me out of debt: My 40-hours-a-week job.

BUT!

If I can turn my blogs into a source of income, enough that I can at least cover my expenses, then I can devote more time to my projects and the eventual creation of the Happy Notes book.

For now, though, the "Tip Jar" button below is just a "Tip Jar".

Click the empty jar if you'd like to donate!

I've Got Pages Now!

So, I've used the Blogger Pages system before and it worked out kinda-sorta nicely. Organized, neat, and no messy link-clicking around to find what you're looking for.

So I'm going to be adding more pages to Doing Nothing But Drinking Tea so the navigation to what I'm doing is a bit easier. For example, I've already posted a new page in the Nav Bar: You Should Read These Blogs.

As a writer of little to no reknown, I know EXACTLY how difficult and frustrating it can be to try and promote and spread out the work that you're doing to as many people as you can scream to. So this little project is going to be my way of helping others get noticed.

I've already got links up, too! Willabee is an awesome guy who runs a few blogs with some awesome content, so check him out and read his stuff! All the links are located on the Read These Blogs page.

That's all from me for now, guys.

Spinal Thread: A NaNoWriMo Podcast

So, on top of doing a podcast (it has content! Yay!) I have decided to do one NaNoWriMo-related/themed podcast per day during the month of November. While I'm updating DNBT with more readable content. And while I'm writing a novel for NaNoWriMo. And maintaining three blogs. And running Write-In events for Brandon. And uploading more readings to the podcast as well as the daily podcasts.

And keeping my house clean. And having a social life. And eating. And sleeping. And working. And crafting. And rehearsing.

... this will be interesting.

Tune into the madness on the Doing Nothing But Drinking Tea podcast. There's a nifty little "Spinal Thread: A NaNoWriMo Podcast" category on the sidebar that will archive all 30 podcasts in order of posting, so enjoy them while I slowly descend into madness ...

I mean have the most fun I've had in years!

You Are Hearing Me Talk

I'm doing podcasts now too!

The link to my Podbean site is at the top of the Archive list and I'll update this site with what I'm posting there, what it's all about, and all that fun stuff.

Wheee!!!!

More Drabbles!

I know I'm probably up to my ears with rotten fruit because I've taken six months to post anything new, so I posted seven new drabbles on the Drabbles page. I'm also about to post some new things on the "Inspirational" page, so check there next!

I'm feeling better than I have in a long while, so I'm going to try to update this place with more content for you to read.

Comments help encourage me to feel bad when I don't update, so don't feel shy and ask me for more to read!

Another Day, Another Page . . . !

If I may direct you to the Archives list, there is a new archive and it is a clickable link.

"Inspirational" is a collection of small musings, notes, and short stories meant to inspire you and those around you.

I wrote "A Found Note" about a month ago, and these past few weeks, its been the only thing keeping me going, so I figured it was fitting to share.

Enjoy.

Oh, hey!

See the Archives list over there?

Are yah lookin'?

Did you notice that Teen / Young Adults is now a clickable link?

Yay! Go check out There's Joy in Sadness, a short story about a reunion of two highschool friends who parted ways . . . it's actually not cute or sweet, by the way, it's actually a bit harsh, so if its not to your taste, try one of the other genre archives!
